Elvis Experience
. . . Never Been to Spain . . .
Backstory:
A few years back RLP’s co-founder and filmmaker, Paolo, was approached by the production for Elvis Experience (Martin Fontaine as Elvis Presley) to produce the video projections for the show which played at Le Capitole du Quebec. Fast forward to 2018, while Paolo lived in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, Martin contacted him again to produce another video projection, this time for the song, “Never been to Spain”. His idea was to be literal with the lyrics form the song, and he utilized mostly still images which he animated to simulate depth of field, focus-racking, camera movement, animating puppet-points, and along with a colour-grades to simulate old and gritty 8mm film—but in 16:9 aspect-ratio to fit the video wall.
